Mailable Cookie Recipes Anyone?

j0199284It’s that time of year again when everyone is making their plans for the Christmas holidays… mailing cards and cookies is coming to the forefront of the plans.

I was wandering through some of my links that I have kept for years and stumbled onto this one…  Baking Delights: 40 Best Cookie Recipes for Shipping.

Even if you’re not shipping them, these are some of the most wonderful cookie recipes I have seen!  My old favorite for Quaker Famous Oatmeal Cookies  .. that recipe that was found on the side of the box in 1955… it’s here also!

I know this is not fabric related.. but I love Christmas cookies..

Spammers Have Found A Way

It seems that spammers have now found a way to get around the “sign in” for the comments on blogs.  They just make up a name…my two were Jenny and Laura… set up an email address  ( both Jenny and Laura had this as their email address…  bellamclaine@gmail.com) and then they link their name to an ad page.  When the blog owner tries to answer the nice comment, they are taken immediately to some ad for something or another… usually a flashing full page ad.  Scary…

I have turned on comment moderation as badly as I hated to…  Sorry…

300,000+…Free Gift Drawing to Commemorate

When I first began to blog, I had no idea what I even wanted to say.  I just wanted a place to put things that I knew I would forget if I didn’t write them down.  That eventually evolved into 4 blogs…lol  But this one is the one that holds my heart as my spinning/knitting/crochet/weaving/nalbinding/painting/quilting etc..etc..etc.. lol  blog.  You know what I mean.  I just cannot see a new application of a craft without trying it..lol  And now…

Phew… I can’t believe it.  This blog began in December of 2006…that’s 22 months ago.  Some time during the night last night it turned over it’s 300,000th hit.  I can only say that I thank every one of you that stops by to see what’s up.  Words fail me.

So for the next 3 days…that’s one day for every 100,000 hits… I will monitor the comments then at the end of the 3 days .. on Saturday morning… I will place all of the comments into a hat and have my wonderful DH draw one out.   That person will then be mailed this hand painted (by me) ceramic egg with the accompanying stand as an appreciation gift.

And yes… this is a shameless way of finding out who some of those many wonderful lurkers are out there.   ;o)

Walking Down the Freezer Aisle… Free pattern

Have you ever gone to the grocery store in the blazing heat of summer…can’t get cool enough…wearing shorts or a light cotton dress?  Even with the kids grown and gone, it seems to take a while to look at everything and decide what to buy…  And that’s not too bad in the terrific air conditioning of the local grocery stores… until you come to the freezer section… at which time I wonder why on earth I left my heavy coat at home!

So this will be my next project!  So simple…why have I never thought of it before!  This is called a “foulard” and is a simple knitted square that is folded and placed into a knitted envelope bag and carried in your purse…just for those occasions when you are in the freezer section of the grocery, cool in the evenings, or need something to cover your hair in a gust of wind.  I love it!

Canadian Living is a great online magazine! It has everything from terrific recipes to loads of knitting and crochet patterns.  This foulard pattern is here , but be sure to wander through the other wonderful patterns too.  There is a knitted T pattern and a simple sweater pattern that I would love to try…but just can’t see stuffing my love handles into anything that would hug quite so closely..grin!

wordpress.textiletutorials/ What do ya think?

Your thought?

I hopped over to the wordpress tutorials tag list… I was looking for a tutorial of a fabric/yarn/crafting nature.  What I found was dozens of Photoshop, PC tutorials…it took until page 4 before I  found one listing on fabric anything.  Sooo… I am  starting a separate tag called Textile Tutorials… It would be so much easier to find what each of us has taken the time to turn into a tute.

My Site Feed Stolen….Blogged.com is a thief!

I have not now or ever signed up for blogged.com to grab my entire blog and show every post and photo on their feed… It seems that for me to even claim the blog as mine I must register with their site, fill in all information including my email address and agree to their “terms and conditions”…  Agree to their terms and conditions????… I don’t think so when they just stole my whole blog… Have a look…

http://www.blogged.com/blogs/fabric-follies-two.html

8:54 pm  Somewhere inside the terms and conditions that I was reading through earlier, I found a support@blogged.com address.  I sent them an email letting them know that I did not appreciate having my blog stolen.  I have received an email:

“Hi,

Blogged.com is a blog directory. We look throughout the Web to find
blogs to add to our directory in order to help blog readers find blogs
they might find interesting.

We understand if you don’t wish to be included in our directory. We have
deleted both blogs.

Blogged.com”

Here is my question… Where is the permission to place my blog in their directory?  Why is the entire feed on their site and not just a link back to my blog?  I’m sorry but this is not a satisfactory explanation for me even if they did remove my 2 blogs….
