Tea Wallet .. Free Pattern at Is It Nap Time Yet?

I have lost my tea wallet!!!   spfttt**##@fftt  smahsh splatt bang  shhhplt!!!

Yes, I’m having a tantrum..;o(

I really DO NOT like the coffee at our Golden Corral so I always take my tea wallet with me and just get a cup of hot water..

I made my tea wallet almost 3 years ago using the tutorial at Christie’s Creations.  She has since changed the name of her blog to Is it Naptime Yet?  but the wonderful tutorials she has are still there and still great.

I was in a bit of a panic.. Wonder if that tute is still there?  What if I can’t find it?   ( O Woe Is Me!!)  But it is still there.. ;o)  And it’s still called Tea Wallet Tutorial.  Now that I have ransomed my sewing machines from the shop where it cost $60.00 apiece to have them cleaned and oiled, this will be the first thing made.. today.. ;o)

I hope your preparations for the Christmas Holiday are going well.. This little easy project might just be great for a gift or stocking stuffer… hmmm.

Hugs… Linda    btw… these pics are of the one I made for my cousin back in 2009.. sigh

Loop Stitch Crocheted House Slippers… free pattern

Last year Denese asked for my help finding a pattern for the looped stitch house slippers pattern.  Well… I just found it.   It’s over on Yahoo! Voices and was shared by Darlene Michaud.  Thank you so much, Darlene.   These would make wonderful Christmas gifts, stocking stuffers or just plain “warming the footsies” during the winter.  ;o)

Have fun!

Arbee Designs… Free Quilting Patterns and Tutorial

I have so many sites in my favorites that our computer guy makes fun every time he has to do anything to our computers!  This morning I was going thru some of them and found just one of the sites I love to look back on every now and then.  Arbee Designs is a favorite site for learning applique quilting.  Here you can purchase patterns, take a quilting class or do the first quilt tutorial for a lovely quilt using 7 different patterns that are covered in the free tutorial.  You can also take a free applique class and pattern for a book cover when you register for their newsletter.   There is much more on this wonderful site to browse through and see…and use… ;o)

This small applique quilt is one that I put together for my granddaughter a couple of years ago.  The little snail and mushroom is a little ditty that I have drawn on everything from napkins to canvases for years.. ;o)  So I make it into a quilt… This is one of the things that the Arbee Designs site can help you achieve.   Design it yourself.. ;o)

Hope you enjoy the site.  I did.

Hugs and stay warm…

2. the healing garden… hand and body lotion.

3. face cloth.. hand knitted by me.. ;o)

4. Honey and Ginger glycerin soap

5. Rose Petal Guest Soaps.. hand dipped by me.

I feel that there is never enough of anything to say “Thank you”.. But I hope you enjoy these.

My friend,  Betty Reynolds,  sent me a note the other day.   You see… Betty is a scrapbooker .  And not just any scrapbooker.  She’s a consultant for Creative Memories. She creates some of the most unique and lovely scrapbook pages you could ever want.   As for her news…

There is now a Creative Cottage Retreat in McKinney, TX.   Once a month Betty is one of the Creative Memory Consultants that will work with you to help you create your one-of-a-kind cards or pages.  Here’s a quote from their home page…

The Creative Memories web site has many, many project pages.  My particular favorites are the “Just for Fun” ones.. ;o)

Have a look… you’ll be glad you did!

P.S. … Betty is not an owner.. just a happy project consultant who is fortunate enough to use Creative Cottage Retreat once a month for a fun day or so. ;o)

Apple Leef Farm… Second Saturday Spin-In Day! (free patterns)

This time last Saturday I was on my way to Van Alstyne, TX with my friend Pat.  It was my first time to attend a spin-in and the first time to Apple Leef FarmWhat a lovely day!  I had no idea there was such a well stocked spinning shop anywhere in the vicinity.  Leef hosts a spin-in the second Saturday of every month.  There were 4 spinners and Leef already spinning when we got there and the number grew as the time went on.  (That’s my friend Pat over in the  left center of the picture in the salmon shirt.  Thanks again, Pat.  I loved this.)

We had a spinning good time for a couple of hours or so…everyone had something to talk about… and  talk we did..lol  It was so much fun watching everyone with their different wheels and the different ways they had of spinning.  One young lady was a new spinner and walked around asking questions.  Everyone was friendly and encouraging, helping in any way they could.

Around 1pm or so everyone adjourned outside to the picnic tables…to the never ending joy of the canine buddies.  Leef has one such buddy that looks exactly like the dog my grandfather had that could ride a bicycle and pull the wood sled….and is even named “Sandy”.

I still think food eaten outside tastes better than any other food.   Leef is the lovely lady  in the green t-shirt with the lovely shoulder length white hair.

I was truly excited to see that she has many colors and kinds of dye stuffs.  While I love my kool aid, sometimes I would like to have a more intense color or an in between color that I find it hard to mix with the colors of kool aid.  I bought 3 colors of the Jacquard dyes to see if I can come up with a graduated blend for a scarf or shawl that I plan to do later this year.

See that ball winder there on the edge of the table in the pic to the left … I have it earmarked in my brain for my next purchase..lol  But this time I found some absolutely gorgeous, silky, I want to lay and squirm around in it  60% Merino 20% Cashmere 20% Angora roving that I could not leave alone.  I bought 8 oz. of it.   (Having a fit here trying to get everything spun up that is on my wheels so I can get to it..lol )

She also has a tahkli that I really, really want.  It would be wonderful to be able to sit back in a chair and spin with a supported spindle.  There was something about spinning that tahkli… it was mesmerizing.

Amazingly, I actually got a lot of spinning done while having such a good time.   This is definitely a good time that I will repeat every 2nd Saturday that I can.. ;o)

P.S.  Leef has really nice free patterns  and tips/info on her site.   Have a look… ;o)

Just Crochet.com (layette patterns)

I’m sorry to say the links for Just Crochet.com in this post are now broken.  As for the pattern for the layette in the picture… it is from Leisure Arts Leaflet 460 called Baby Layettes to Knit and Crochet Book 2. It was published in 1997 and I have found it for sale sometimes on ebay and almost always at Amazon.com.   The Amazon listing as of 01/06/2012  is  here

This is a Christening Layette I have crocheted many times.  I love the look and feel of it each time I crochet it.  I have searched high and low for other christening sets that I like, but have never seemed to come across any I like as well as this one….and especially have a hard time finding a christening pattern for a boy.  Well…..

I have found them now at Just Crochet.com … just like I was looking for.  They are not free, but they are very reasonably priced.  This group with the dresses and the rompers are just as cute as a bug’s ear.. love them.  And this twin set…

Have a look…you’ll love ‘em…

BTW… all pictures on this site are clickable…(unless I oops! and forget!)
