Knit/Crochet Blanket/Doily/Runner…. free pattern (off the cuff, of course)

Knit Crochet BlanketA year ago… or is that two?… I got out my knitting needles and some stash yarn and decided that I would knit.  I only knew how to knit and purl, so I just did garter stitch for a bunch of scarves for the grandsons for Christmas.  I enjoyed the feel of the knitting, so I just kept on.  I used up this skein of acrylic yarn by knitting rectangles of garter stitch with some vague idea of later putting them together to make something.  I found them a couple of days ago lounging around in the bottom of a drawer in my work room.

So.. I pulled out another skein of stash and did a sc, ch 3 edging around each square for 2 rows.  Then took two and did a sc, ch 3 join …then did a sc, ch 3 join for the other 2…then joined those two together.  Then I  did a sc, ch3 around the entire thing, then sc, ch4 then sc, ch 5 around…finished off and did some weaving in of the yarn ends.  The little rose in the middle is just a chain 4 with as many dc in the 4th ch from hook as I thought looked good.  Break the yarn and attach underneath to the ch that all the dc’s are in…ch 3, sc, ch 3 to make 5 loops…sl st into a loop and then do a sl st, sc, hdc, 2 dc, hd, sc, sl st, in each loop around.  Finish off and tie to center of blanket/doily/runner…  Now.. if this is not an off the cuff pattern, I certainly don’t know what is…lol

I had in mind a doll blanket for grand daughter Hannah… I don’t think she will mind if it is an off the cuff pattern…
