CROCHETED MEDALLION SCARF
Wool-Ease Worsted Weight Yarn in:Wheat… approx. 5 oz. (1 full skein and part of another)
Wood … approx. 1 oz.
Forest Green Heather.. approx. 1/2 oz.
Size K crochet hook
Large Eye Blunt Needle
Using the wheat, I made a chain and wrapped it around my neck. When it was long enough to reach the middle of both thighs, I stopped. I did not count the stitches and it is not necessary to do so. You may make this scarf as long as you would like… or as short as you would like…grin
Row 1-2: sc in back loop only of each stitch across. Ch 1 and turn.
Row 3: sc in back loop only of each stitch across. At last stitch, change to Wood color, ch 1 and turn.
Row 4-5: sc in back loop only of each stitch across, ch 1 and turn…changing to Forest Green Heather in last stitch of row 5.
Row 6-7: sc in back loop only of each stitch across, ch 1 and turn…changing to Wheat in last stitch of row 7.
Row 7-17: sc in back loop only of each stitch across, ch 1 and turn…changing to Wood in last stitch of Row 17.
Row 18-19: sc in back loop only of each stitch across, ch 1 and turn…changing to wheat in last stitch of Row 19.
Row 20-21: sc in back loop only of each stitch across, ch 1 and turn..ending with last stitch of Row 21. Cut thread and fasten off.
The scarf is wonderful just like this, but I have added a 5 inch fringe, maintaining the striping of the scarf with the fringe colors.
To make the medallion:
Using Wood: Leaving a 3 inch tail of thread … Ch 4, dc in first ch 18 times. Join, ch1. 2sc in each dc around. Fasten off. Weave in finishing thread, but do not weave in the beginning 3 in. of thread.
Using Wheat: Leaving a 3 inch tail of thread… Ch 3, sc in 1st stitch 10 times. Fasten off.
Thread a large eye needle with the 3 in. tail of thread on the Wheat circle. Place the Wheat (smaller) circle on the Wood (larger) circle, and using the needle, pull the wheat colored thread through the center of the larger circle and sew in place on the back. If you are using charms, place them and sew them on. Now thread the Wood colored 3 in. tail of thread from the larger circle and run it through the scarf wherever you decide to put the medallion and then sew it in place. Place the button in the center of the medallion and using wheat (to match the back of the scarf), sew the medallion onto the scarf, weaving the thread through and across several times placing the stitches so they will not show on the back of the scarf. And voila’… You’re done!
